Circadian Rhythm Nation

My body hates me.

Monday- Woke up at a respectable 9am, but felt tired all day.

Tuesday- Turned off my alarm at 9:30am and slept till noon. Wait, what now?

The last time I slept that late was when I was getting over jetlag (and Dutch depression) upon my return from the Netherlands.

On top of that, I was exhausted the whole day. All I wanted was to get back to bed and sleep the sleep of the heavily sedated.

Tuesday night/Wednesday morning- Slept like utter trash. I had very vivid dreams about my classes, counseling techniques and the inner workings of my own subconscious (Freud would've had a field day up in this cookie).

Last night- had equally crappy REM cycles, or lack thereof. This time, I had dreams I was dating the director of the last show I worked on (yikes). Also, my former boss was selling Beanie Babies to Veterans.

Of course she was.

I was supposed to wake up at 7am but opted to snooze for an hour and a half instead. Good thing class didn't start until 9:30am. And even better that my PRESENTATION in that class didn't start right on time.

Tonight- I'm turning in at 10pm. I would like 7-8 hours of dreamless sleep. I will attempt to remove all visual stimulants an hour before bed and perhaps do some relaxing yoga.

If nothing else, I'll just chase my Sleepy Time herbal tea with Scotch and a horse tranquilizer.

I hope you did get a bit more sleep. It is rough to function on little or no sleep. I hope you get better soon too!

Sorry you can't sleep... those vivid dreams totally mess with my cycles too... not to mention that now that it's getting cold where I live, I just keep sleeping... and I have kids!

Thanks for visiting!! :)

that's strange, usually I feel well rested when I have super jam packed activity filled dreams!

but I do LOVE those sleeps where you feel like you were in a coma all night, but wake up refreshed, not groggy.

Oh sleep, why are you so tempermental?!

I hate when my brain teases me into thinking that I can sleep in, and then my alarm goes off one minute later and I realize that it's wednesday. LAME.

I feel your pain. I get up at 6 am every day and it's just so damn tempting to sleep in another 15 and make my dog pee in lightening speed rather than walk her. But then the guilt sets in... and a puppy nose wiggles to my face and in seconds flat I'm awake and cuddling cuteness. Get a dog and you'll get up, promise.

Is there something in the national water? Last night I was EXHAUSTED. Read until 10 pm when I couldn't keep my eyes open anymore... woke up at 11 and tossed and turned until 1 am, when I couldn't take it anymore and read a [depressing] book until 3 am. Cried at the end, went back up to bed, tossed and turned until 4, and had to get up with the effing alarm at 7.

oy.

fascinating stuff, huh?

My sleep cycle has been all messed up lately too. I just can't seem to get to bed at a decent time, then I can't fall asleep when I finally get to bed, and then start my day at 5am.

Hope things get better for you!

Hope you're able to feel rested soon and you're not coming down with something.

I remember waking up in a pool of sweat dreaming I missed a final exam. And that was only undergrad. Hope the tea and the tranq help you get some rest!

If that fails, I recommend Tolstoy. I can't get through more than two pages without feeling like I've been walloped in the head with a 200-lb. sandbag.

well it sounds like your sleep clock is all over the place, maybe some sleeping tabs to get back on track might help. OR maybe go out drinking all night for a few nights in a row to make you really tired again! lol

Hope it fixes soon tho, Happy Sits Sharefest Saturday!

If I told you I had an experiment going to see how long I can go without washing my hair would you think it
A) irrelvant?
B) gross?
C) a brilliant, green, money-saving plan?
I dream about it and it's wrecking my sleep.
I hate insomnia!
