Seriously, I only knew of them from the Christmas poem "...while visions of sugarplums danced in their heads". I mean, they sound kind of made up, right? Oh no, they're real!

They're pretty, aren't they? Well, now I want some but I'm pretty sure they're seasonal. At least, they should be. Apparently they're also some form of candy, but I'm completely uninterested in that version.
Confession #2: I don't like Bob Marley.
I know I'm going to get all sorts of hate mail for this, but I felt it was time to come clean. All my life, I'd just sort of assumed I liked Bob Marley because, well, everybody else seemed to like him. However, I had never actively listened to a Bob Marley song... that is, until recently.
When I'm at work, I often frequent pandora. com because most local radio stations make my itchy. Well, due to my specifications for a radio station I had created, Pandora kept trying to stick Bob in there. I would be working on my computer and suddenly the background music would be brought to my attention and I would think, "What the crap is this?" I would immediately check Pandora, expecting some heinous act of musical vandalism to have taken place, but nay, it was just Mr. Marley, doing his Rastafarian thing.

Well, at first, I was downright embarrassed. I would think to myself, "Well, obviously I didn't hear the song from the beginning" and I would let the song go without giving Pandora any input. After the third or fourth time, however, I decided this issue could no longer be ignored. I had to take action! I gave poor Bob a THUMBS DOWN on multiple songs. This led me to one basic conclusion: Senor Marley and I do not get along.
Think of me what you will, kids, but that's the way of it.
Confession #3: Computer terminology means nothing to me.
Okay, here's the thing. I love my computer. It gives me e-mail, Facebook and blogging. Naturally, I curse it with every fiber of my being when something goes wrong, but more often than not, I'm infatuated with it.
This does not mean, however, that I know all about its working parts. I like my car, too, but that doesn't mean I could tell a piston from a fuel pump. In the same vane, I don't know what's on my computer. Perhaps this makes me an idiot, but I don't really care. I'm not interested in how many bushels of ram or fathoms of bytes I have and as you've probably guessed, I have no idea what either of those words mean.
So, when someone tries to talk to me about the mega-furlongs of memory installed on my laptop, I tend to go to my happy place.
This does not mean I can't simulate a conversation where I'm understanding every word. Oh, I can, for I nod and smile with the best of them. While I eagerly agree with you, "Oh, definitely. I couldn't live without my SIMM socket", I'm actually in another land, far away, thinking about Fiestaware and grapes.
By the time this person leaves, I have successfully fooled him or her into thinking we just had a productive conversation.

I always enjoy it when someone has the stones to admit they don't like a well-liked musician. I get a lot of flack for not liking John Mellencamp, Bob Seger, and Bruce Springsteen. But, hey, thems the breaks.
I don't know J.B. but I think we might be kindred spirits. I can't stand John Mellencamp or Bruce Springsteen. Particularly Bruce Springsteen. Seriously, what's the big deal?
I am also not a fan of Bob Marley...his initials say it all.
1) Hooray for Pandora!
2) I also do not particularly like Bob Marley. So I'm glad we have that in common.
Hahaha! Welcome out of the non-gay closet, ya! :)
I am so with you on the computer terminology bit. And Bob Marley? I guess we may be one of the few (2? 3? Haha...) people who don't really rock to his tune.
Haha! :)
Well, I do like Bob Marley, but there's nothing wrong with saying what musicians you like and don't like. And to heck with everyone else's taste!

Your Google ad sense bar at the bottom of your post was just advertising The Worlds Best Bob Marley T-Shirts for me. The internet and all it's computer wizardry is following you and going to stalk you with Bob Marley shirts for saying you don't dig him.
Shame - p.s. I don't really like him either. Please don't tell all the hippies in Austin Texas, they might have a major hissy fit at my front door.
I could have written this post! I had no idea sugarplums were real either! Until now. And now I want one. Thank you.
I've never liked Bob Marley either. A guy that I dated in high school always had a Bob Marley CD playing in his car. I pretended to like it at first and then I dumped him. (Ok, I didn't *really* dump him because he ALWAYS listened to Bob Marley, but it could have been a reason)
And I love my computer to death, too, but I hardly know anything about it. Go figure.
Ok, now that I have written my own blog in your comment section, I am going to continue to look around. :-)
OMG I am SO with you on Bob Marley. Seriously, why is he so popular?
I've never gotten the obsession with Bob Marley - I'm not a fan, either. I like a LOT of different kinds of music, but his isn't one of the time!
I like Bob Marley, in a random shuffle kind of way. And sugar plums...mmm, mmm good! Except I don't remember actually eating sugar & plums in the same sitting. But plums, Yummy. Sugar, Yummy.
I've become more intimate with my computer...it's a slow process, but really worth the effort. I like knowing what ails him:) I just run out and pick up the bandaid and/or script and he's out of his funk. We aren't in the love stage yet...but getting there.
Your adsense is featuring "The Best of Bob Marley" below this post! ROFL!
Congrats on your SITS day!
I'm sad I didn't get the same ad as Joy! Instead, I've got "Say 'I do' to J. Crew."
Annoying, but not nearly as funny.
Happy SITS Day! I'm kinda the same, I don't know all the ins and outs of computers. But that's what I have computer-guy friends for. I just know enough to sound credible, and I let them do the rest. :)
So after readying about sugar plums I read Bob Marley as Bob Cratchit. And i really though... who couldn't like dear me. Cratchit... but I'm with you Bob Marely gets under my skin...
and I have no idea what a Gigawatt is... I rely on the husband fro my computer needs... at least he knows what he's doing when I break the internet.
Happy SITS day!
Wow, you learn something new everyday. I had no idea sugar plums were real either....Happy SITS day!
So jealous that you have Pandora. We cannot get it here in Canada, but I have a few friends who work for companies with an American parent company so their IP (computer address) shows up as American and they can get it. Booo.
Yes, pretty much...on all of it.
I'm so bad with technology....I just got a new wireless printer. I want my life to be easier. But I opened up the instructions and my brain started smoking. I gave up before I even started. Didnt even bother inserting the ink. Left it to my husband...who still hasn't DONE IT EITHER>
Ok, I didn't know sugar plums were real either. Cool!
And I'll admit I love me some Bob Marley, but I always feel funny as the mom in the minivan picking up her kids blaring 3 little birds, beside my door step, singing sweet songs, a melody pure and true, singing, this is my message to you-oo-ooo. Like, people are going to think what is that soccer mom doing thinking she's all rasta or something. ROFL
I really DO like Bob Marley...but thats ok...we can still be friends :)
Happy SITS day...you are cracking me up today girl!!
Happy SITS! I am not a big fan of Bob Marley either! You are definitely not alone!
I didn't know sugarplums were real either, have you ever had one, I know it's an old post so just wondering....
I hate calling tech support for something computer or internet related because one of us always gets frustrayed. I have no knowledge of anything computer except where the power button is and the internet explorer icon!
Ha, great post! I think I need to come up with some confessions of my own. It's ok not to like what everyone else likes. And I'm with you, I had no idea what sugarplums were all about.
You're not the only one who has difficulty knowing about computer stuff - once I went to staples with my dad to look at computers and I had to ask the guy what a "spec" was. haha.
Happy SITS Day!
Oh jeez...I fall under all of those confessions...they are true for me too!!
~WM
techno...who? I am with ya on that one.
Sugarplums are real? I always thought that they were some candy thing in the UK that we just didn't have over here or something like that.
And although I like Bob Marley myself, I appreciate that you admitted it! Why conform to the norm if you don't like it?
It's okay. I don't really like Bob Marley either. :) Happy SITS day!!!
I knew sugarplums were some sort of candy but didn't know they were also actual real plums. Sounds delicously sweet. Also ixney on the Bob Marley. Not a fan at all. Bits, Bytes, Ram, whatever - just give me a good computer and leave me alone.
As long as you don't say you don't like The Beatles we're golden.
Sugar plums are real!?! I had no idea. They do look quite delicious though.
And I'm not a Bob Marley fan either. I've tried. Just doesn't click with me.
Sugarplums...I didn't really know either. They look like grapes.
Bob Marley...I used to listen to him in college. Now, it's just nostalgic when I hear it.
1. Didn't know sugarplums were real either!
2. Bob who? : )
3. EXACTLY!!! I turn on my computer, and I want it to work... e-mail, blogging, facebook, even banking. But I don't know what's wrong with it when it doesn't work, nor do I have any desire to fix it. I just want it to do what I want it to do when I want it to do it!
Happy SITS day again!
These are some great confessions! I also have a serious problem listening to people blab about technology.
I could give a crap how many flaggerjack bobblebytes are in my computer's mammajam.
Ahhh, so you're real like most of us. I can't stand Bob Marley either. Can't even tell you why. As for computer lingo - my husband programs and creates software - and I still can't tell you a darn thing about it. When he talks to me about work and all that fun stuff - I, too, go to my happy place :o)
I dont like Bob Marley either!
Literally just last week I learned about what the big deal was with Bruce Springsteen. I like the slow burn Bruce, not the in-your-face Bruce. As for ol' Bobby M the only time I really listen to him is when I am contemplating if I should honk back at the person behind me at the stop sign who honked for me to go....they say don't worry...about a thing...nope. HOnk!
My best, Lynn
*I really should take some serenity now classes or something.
I'm completely with you on the Bob Marley thing!
Honestly, I think you have to have smoked pot, or just be REEEAALLLY laid back enjoy Bob Marley. I'm not a big fan, either, though I quite like the dance remix of the outer-space song.
It's nice to hear somebody else confess they don't like something or know about something that they "should" or are "supposed to".
@cheapchichome.blogspot.com
I like, similar to the previous posters, that you have the guts to put it out there that you don't like XYZ. I had no idea, until reading this post, that sugarplums were real either..crazy!
My boyfriend is an IT manager. Gads I hate asking about his day. And REALLY hate dining with his best friend while they talk "shop". Drool. Gimme a bib!
I must also confess. Though, usually, I'm all for going against the grain, swimming upstream and marching to the beat of your own little drummer boy, I've got to say that I am desperately fighting the urge to try to convert you....into an appreciator (if not a lover) of the music of Robert Nesta Marley. I just don't get it...like deep fried pickles. I cant' wrap my mind around it.
Feel free to judge me.
I didn't know sugarplums were real either. Your picture is the first I have seen of them. Why don't they sell these in the store? I want to try some now.
Oh, grapes!
Wait. What were you saying again? ;)
Technical things make my brain turn all goopy. Kind of like when hubs starts talking about wind turbines...see how fast my eyes glaze over!
Now, if he did that while I was talking about my blog...oh, wait. He does.
Give and take, give and take.
I knew you a few days before the world wide interweb knew you! Fate!
I hate Bob Marley too. In fact I hate all reggae if we are being totally honest. I do love the watered down version a la Gwen Stephanie, No Doubt and Sting.
I know...it's lame to some. But I can't stand that other stuff.
Hope your day was glorious!
From SITS, of course!
xx
Cristina
I don't like U2. OMG, how liberating! I feel like a weight has been lifted. Thank you for the inspiration.
Yeah, I do not do Bob or U@ (liek the comment above me - don't tell me BF will hate me! I never siad I liked them, I just let her follow them around the West Coast by herself).
I too know jack about computers, but I {heart} them...when they work.
I have no idea who Bob Marley is. His picture doesn't look familiar, must be the wrong kind of music.
Oh I don't think I shoulda read the comments... my eyes are burning!!! Love despite the lack of Marley love.
At least you gave him a chance...I like him.
I really enjoyed this whole post... that last bit about "the productive" conversation...that's funny!
I seriously thought that sugarplums were just plums...coated in sugar. I'm not sure how to handle this new information.
And why are these kids dreaming about fruit?!
Seriously? Sugar plums are real?
